Sharjah-Oman logistics corridor trade value jumps 66.26%

## Trade Value Surge

The logistics corridor between Sharjah and Oman has seen a remarkable increase in trade value, reaching approximately Dh1.7 billion in the first quarter of the year. This represents a 66.26% rise compared to the same period last year.

## Increased Activity

Over 34,000 trucks utilized the corridor, and more than 32,000 customs declarations were processed. This surge in activity highlights the corridor's growing importance in regional trade.

## Strategic Collaboration

The corridor was developed through a partnership between Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and Oman Customs. It aims to enhance the efficiency of goods movement between the two regions by connecting key ports and border crossings.

## Infrastructure and Benefits

The route integrates Sharjah’s ports, such as Khorfakkan, Port Khalid, and Hamriyah, with Oman’s Sohar Port and other strategic locations. This setup reduces transit times and costs, especially given the proximity of Khatmat Malaha to Sohar Port.

## Incentives for Use

To encourage the use of this corridor, Sharjah has implemented measures like toll exemptions for qualifying trucks, aiming to lower operational costs and expedite freight movement.

## Future Prospects

The initial figures from the corridor's operation underscore its potential to strengthen land-based logistics links between the UAE and Oman, supporting the region's role as a logistics hub.
