## Violent Protests Erupt
Following the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in air strikes by the US and Israel, Pakistan witnessed violent protests, resulting in at least 12 deaths and numerous injuries. The unrest was most intense near US diplomatic sites in Karachi and Islamabad.
## Karachi Clashes
In Karachi, nine fatalities and 34 injuries were reported as protesters and police clashed near the US Consulate. Security forces used tear gas and baton charges to disperse crowds, leading to further confrontations.
## Islamabad and Punjab Unrest
In Islamabad, two protesters died and over 30 were injured during attempts to reach the US Embassy. Despite a ban on gatherings, large crowds formed, leading to clashes with police. In Lahore, demonstrators tried to breach the US Consulate, prompting a ban on public gatherings by the Punjab government.
## Nationwide Impact
Protests spread to other regions, including Skardu and Gilgit, where violence led to the burning of UN offices. A curfew was imposed, and the army was deployed to maintain order. Meanwhile, rallies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained peaceful, with leaders urging restraint.
## Government Response
The Sindh government expressed sorrow over the violence and announced a high-level investigation. Authorities across Pakistan emphasized the right to protest but warned against violence and vandalism.
