Air India Express chief Aloke Singh to step down

## Leadership Transition at Air India Express

Aloke Singh, the Managing Director of Air India Express, will step down on March 19 after nearly five years in the role. His tenure saw significant changes, including the airline's integration into the Tata Group's aviation portfolio and a major fleet expansion.

## Transformative Tenure

Singh's leadership was marked by the merger of Air India Express with AIX Connect, formerly known as AirAsia India, creating a unified low-cost platform. Under his guidance, the airline's fleet grew from 26 to over 100 aircraft, and its workforce expanded to around 8,300 employees. Singh's efforts positioned Air India Express as India's third-largest narrow-body carrier.

## Succession Plan

Following Singh's departure, Chief Operating Officer Captain Hamish Maxwell will assume the role of accountable manager. Maxwell will oversee operational continuity and regulatory compliance as the airline continues its expansion and integration within the Air India group.
