## Digital Service for Emergency Return

The UAE has implemented a digital service that issues emergency return documents within 30 minutes. This initiative, managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to assist Emiratis who have lost or damaged their passports while abroad.

## Surge in Applications

In 2025, over 1,250 Emiratis applied for these documents, with the majority of cases involving lost passports. Specifically, 734 requests were due to lost passports, 126 for expired ones, and 31 for damaged documents. Additionally, 366 applications were for newborns of Emirati parents born overseas.

## Seasonal Trends

The demand for emergency return documents peaked in December, with 204 applications, followed by August and July. Lost passport cases were notably higher during holiday periods, reflecting travel trends.

## Newborn Documentation

For newborns, the process requires additional verification. Parents must provide a certified birth certificate, authenticated by the host country's foreign ministry and the UAE mission, along with other personal documents.
