According to Article 52 of Federal Decree-Law No. (34) of 2021, individuals may face imprisonment of at least one year and fines starting at 100,000 dirhams for disseminating information that could incite public opinion or disturb public security.

## Increased Penalties During Crises

The penalties become more severe if the misinformation incites public opinion against state authorities or occurs during emergencies, with potential imprisonment of no less than two years and fines of at least 200,000 dirhams.
