## Surge in Public Transport Usage

Dubai's public transport system saw a significant increase in ridership, reaching 802.1 million in 2025. This marks a 7.4% rise from the previous year, driven by a shift away from private car use due to traffic congestion. The average daily ridership increased to 2.2 million.

## Metro and Shared Mobility Lead Growth

The Dubai Metro played a crucial role, accounting for 37% of total public transport users. Shared mobility services also saw a 30% increase, highlighting a growing preference for these options. Public buses and taxis followed, with buses carrying 197.2 million riders and taxis transporting 209 million.

## Monthly Trends and Future Plans

October was the busiest month with 72.8 million riders. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) plans to expand bus and taxi lanes, aiming for a 10% increase in ridership. They are also exploring a trackless tram project to enhance the city's transport infrastructure.

## Strategic Vision

RTA's strategic goal is to make public transport the primary choice for mobility in Dubai. This involves improving service quality, expanding coverage, and integrating various transport modes to support the city's growth and enhance quality of life.
