## Innovative Quality Assessment System
Abu Dhabi has unveiled a pioneering quality assessment framework for children's activities, marking a global first in its scope. This initiative, spearheaded by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA), evaluates venues and services frequented by children outside traditional educational settings.
## Comprehensive Evaluation Criteria
The Quality Recognition System (QRS) assesses facilities based on six key standards: safety, child development, staff competence, inclusion, community engagement, and governance. The goal is to guide parents in choosing safe and enriching environments for their children, while encouraging service providers to enhance their offerings.
## Pilot Phase and Feedback
The system underwent a pilot phase involving 35 facilities across various categories, including parks, museums, and play centers. During this phase, over 75 site visits were conducted, and facilities received more than 100 hours of support. Participants also completed self-assessments and received feedback from families.
## Positive Outcomes and Future Plans
The pilot has already led to improvements, such as enhanced child protection policies and expanded staff training. The ECA plans to refine the system further, with potential expansion to cover services for children up to 18 years old. Interested service providers are invited to participate in the ongoing quality improvement efforts.
