## Safety Crackdown on Delivery Bicycles
Dubai authorities have impounded more than 390 delivery bicycles over the past three months. This action is part of a joint operation by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police to enhance safety and ensure compliance with regulations in the delivery sector.
## Inspection Efforts
The inspections targeted high-activity areas such as Al Muraqqabat, Dubai Marina, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Downtown Dubai. The focus was on ensuring that delivery companies and riders adhere to licensing and operational regulations. The campaign aims to improve service standards and promote safety among delivery riders and other road users.
## Regulatory Compliance
Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at the RTA, highlighted the rapid growth of the delivery bicycle sector in Dubai. This growth necessitates strict compliance with safety requirements to protect both riders and road users. Inspections checked for mandatory safety features on bicycles, such as lights, reflectors, bells, and functioning brakes. Riders are also required to wear uniforms and protective gear, including helmets and reflective vests.
## Ongoing Initiatives
The RTA plans to continue regular patrols as the delivery sector expands. These efforts are part of a broader strategy combining enforcement with education to ensure companies understand and comply with regulations. The RTA aims to maintain safety standards and support Dubai's vision of a safe and efficient transport ecosystem.
