Dubai's RTA opens two new bridges to ease traffic across Al Asayel and Oud Maitha Streets

## Key Infrastructure Developments

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated two new bridges as part of the Oud Maitha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project. This initiative is a significant component of the Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development, aimed at enhancing urban mobility in the emirate.

## Bridge Locations and Capacity

The first bridge is located at the intersection of Oud Maitha Street, Al Asayel Street, and Al Wasl Club Street. It features two lanes and can handle approximately 2,400 vehicles per hour, alleviating congestion in the area. The second bridge, situated at the intersection of Al Wasl Club Street and Al Khail Road, also has two lanes with a capacity of about 3,000 vehicles per hour, facilitating smoother traffic flow toward Business Bay Crossing.

## Project Progress and Future Plans

The RTA reports that 72% of the overall project is complete, with tunnel construction at 70%. The project, expected to finish by the third quarter of 2026, will include 4.3 kilometers of bridges and tunnels and 14 kilometers of road expansions.

## Impact on Traffic and Communities

The project is set to increase Oud Maitha Street's capacity from 10,400 to 15,600 vehicles per hour, reducing travel times significantly. It will benefit several communities, including Za'abeel and Al Jaddaf, and improve access to landmarks like Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club.

## Strategic Importance

This development is part of Dubai's broader strategy to enhance infrastructure ahead of demand, supporting the city's growth and ensuring efficient transportation for its residents.
