## Moon Sighting Event in Abu Dhabi

The UAE Council for Fatwa has announced that the Ramadan Crescent Moonsighting Committee will meet on February 17, 2026, at 6pm in Abu Dhabi's historic Qasr Al Hosn. This gathering is part of the council's efforts to confirm the start of lunar months and ensure a unified approach to moon sighting in the country.

## Community Participation Encouraged

Residents are encouraged to participate in the moon sighting and report any confirmed sightings. The council has set up a hotline and an online portal for submitting observations. This initiative aims to revive the tradition of moon sighting and involve the community in this significant religious practice.

## Official Announcement Pending

The committee, led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Sheikh Al Mahfouz bin Bayyah and Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, will review reports from observatories and public testimonies after the Maghrib prayer. An official announcement regarding the start of Ramadan will be made through authorized channels once the committee completes its review.
