Dh73,000 watch scam: Al Ain court rules money must be returned

## Court Ruling on Watch Fraud

A civil court in Al Ain has mandated the repayment of Dh73,000 to a man defrauded in a watch purchase. The court found that two brothers were involved in the scam, with the first brother misleading the claimant into believing he could acquire a luxury watch below market price.

## Details of the Fraud

The claimant had transferred the money to a bank account belonging to the second brother, under the pretense of purchasing the watch. Upon realizing the deception, the victim sought legal action to recover his funds and additional compensation.

## Legal Proceedings

The court noted that the first brother had a prior conviction for fraud and had been fined Dh80,000. Despite being notified, he did not attend the hearing. The second brother admitted to receiving the funds but failed to justify retaining them.

## Court's Decision

The court ruled that both brothers must jointly repay the Dh73,000. Additionally, the first brother was ordered to pay Dh20,000 for damages. Other claims by the victim were dismissed.
