Dubai Municipality launches ‘Ehsan Stations’ initiative to feed stray animals

## Innovative Initiative

Dubai Municipality has launched 'Ehsan Stations', a pioneering project aimed at feeding stray animals using AI technology. This initiative marks a first in the region, with smart devices being installed across the emirate to manage and support stray animal populations.

## Strategic Implementation

A total of 12 AI-powered devices will be placed in key locations, including ten in public parks and two in Dubai Holding facilities. These stations are designed to identify stray animals, collect data, and dispense food, promoting a more organized and sustainable feeding approach.

## Environmental and Social Benefits

The initiative aims to reduce random feeding practices that can disrupt public spaces and affect the city's appearance. By fostering a culture of recycling and sustainability, the project also contributes to public health protection and ecological balance.

## Commitment to Animal Welfare

Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafee, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health and Safety Agency, emphasized the municipality's dedication to humane values and animal welfare. The project is part of broader efforts to maintain Dubai's status as a progressive and liveable city.

## Pilot Phase and Future Plans

Currently in a pilot phase, the stations will be evaluated to gather insights for further development. All devices are locally designed and manufactured, showcasing advanced technology and innovation.

## Broader Animal Welfare Efforts

Dubai Municipality also operates a temporary shelter for stray animals and implements programs like Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) and Trap–Neuter–Vaccinate–Return (TNVR). These efforts are complemented by initiatives encouraging responsible pet ownership and community reporting of stray animal issues.
