## Moon Sighting Initiative
The UAE Council for Fatwa has announced that the Ramadan Crescent Moonsighting Committee will meet on February 17, 2026, at 6pm in Abu Dhabi. This gathering will take place at the historic Qasr Al Hosn site and will be led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Sheikh Al Mahfouz bin Bayyah, with Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei also in attendance.
## Community Participation Encouraged
The Council is urging residents to participate in the sighting of the crescent moon on Tuesday evening. Reports of sightings can be submitted through a dedicated online platform. This initiative aims to revive the tradition of moon sighting and foster community involvement.
## Official Announcement Pending
The committee will review observations from across the UAE after the Maghrib prayer. They will consider reports from accredited observatories and public testimonies. An official announcement regarding the start of Ramadan will be made once the committee completes its review.
