## UAE's Commitment to Food Security

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE's Minister of Economy and Tourism, has reaffirmed the country's dedication to maintaining food supply and safeguarding consumer rights. During a recent visit to the Al Aweer Central Fruit and Vegetable Market in Dubai, he emphasized that these priorities are non-negotiable for the UAE.

## Monitoring Market Practices

The minister, who also leads the UAE’s Higher Committee for Consumer Protection, inspected various retail and wholesale outlets to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws. He warned against any unfair trading practices that could destabilize the market, promising strict legal action against violators.

## Stable Supply Chains

Despite regional challenges, the UAE's food import levels remain steady, supported by robust strategic reserves and supply chains. The ministry is actively monitoring stock levels and conducting regular analyses to prevent shortages.

## Inspection Efforts

As part of its oversight, the ministry plans over 420 inspections during Ramadan, utilizing an electronic system to track prices in real time across major retail outlets. Since the regional crisis began, 4,468 inspections have been conducted, uncovering 554 violations related to unjustified price hikes, leading to fines totaling Dh176,000.
