## Lawsuit Filed Against OpenAI
The parents of a girl injured in a school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. They claim the company had prior knowledge of the shooter's intentions but failed to alert authorities.
## Allegations Against ChatGPT
The lawsuit alleges that the shooter used ChatGPT to plan the attack, treating the AI as a confidante and collaborator. Despite closing the shooter's account, OpenAI reportedly did not inform the police until after the tragic event.
## Impact on Victim
The victim, Maya Gebala, suffered severe injuries, including a catastrophic brain injury, after being shot three times. Her family argues that OpenAI's inaction contributed to the attack, leaving her with permanent disabilities.
## OpenAI's Response
As of now, OpenAI has not commented on the lawsuit. The case raises questions about the responsibilities of AI companies in monitoring and reporting potential threats.
