## Instagram Outage Affects Thousands
On Wednesday morning, Instagram users experienced widespread service disruptions, with many unable to send or receive direct messages. The issues began around 7:40 am IST and were prominently reported on Downdetector, a site that tracks online service outages. At the peak of the disruption, over 10,000 users reported problems, primarily with the mobile app and messaging features.
## User Reports and Speculations
Approximately 71% of users reported issues with the app itself, while 20% faced server connection problems. The outage sparked significant online discussion, with some speculating about possible links to geopolitical tensions in the region.
## Meta's Response
Meta, Instagram's parent company, has not yet released an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or when services will be fully restored. This incident follows similar, albeit smaller, disruptions on Meta's platforms earlier this month.
