Philippine carriers continue to cancel Middle East trips, charter flights back home arranged

## Flight Cancellations

Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific (CEB) have suspended flights to the Middle East due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. PAL has cancelled several flights between Manila and key Middle Eastern cities, including Doha, Dubai, and Riyadh, from March 11 to March 16. Similarly, CEB has suspended flights to Dubai and Riyadh, offering flexible rebooking and refund options for affected passengers.

## Repatriation Efforts

In response to the flight cancellations, the Philippine government is organizing charter and commercial flights to bring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) home. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has coordinated these efforts, with some OFWs already traveling from Israel to Egypt and then flying to Manila. Additional flights are being arranged for OFWs in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

## Government Support

The repatriation is funded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's emergency repatriation fund. Over 400 Filipinos have returned home since the escalation of tensions. The government emphasizes the safety and welfare of Filipinos abroad as a priority.
