## Stricter Penalties for Disease Transmission
The UAE's Federal National Council has approved a draft law aimed at combating communicable diseases. This legislation proposes harsher penalties, including fines up to Dh100,000 and prison sentences, for those who knowingly spread infectious diseases. If the transmission results in death, the penalty could escalate to life imprisonment.
## Reporting Obligations for Health Professionals
Healthcare workers, including doctors and pharmacists, are required to report suspected or confirmed cases of infectious diseases within eight hours. Failure to do so could result in fines ranging from Dh30,000 to Dh100,000. Lesser penalties apply for delayed reporting of certain diseases.
## Vaccination Compliance and Travel Restrictions
The draft law also targets vaccination neglect. Parents who fail to immunize their children as per the national program could face fines between Dh5,000 and Dh20,000. Additionally, individuals with certain communicable diseases must obtain approval before traveling or moving outside health facilities, with fines for non-compliance reaching up to Dh100,000.
## Strengthening Public Health Measures
This proposed legislation aims to enhance the UAE's public health system by improving disease monitoring and ensuring timely reporting. It seeks to reinforce preventive measures to safeguard the community's health.
