Dubai’s ‘Gift It Forward’ initiative delivers D14 million in Eid support to 4,000 families

## Community Support for Eid

Dubai's 'Gift It Forward' initiative has successfully provided over 4,000 Emirati families with essential goods and support, totaling more than D14 million. This community-driven program, now in its third season, took place over six days at Al Twar Hall in late February.

## Empowering Families

The initiative, organized by the Community Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with Dubai Holding, offered a unique "community marketplace" experience. Instead of receiving pre-packaged aid, families could choose from 160,000 items, including clothing and household essentials, allowing them to prepare for Eid Al Fitr with dignity and personal choice.

## Expanding Reach

This year's program saw significant growth, supported by 60 partners from both public and private sectors. In addition to physical goods, Dh200,000 in shopping vouchers were distributed to assist with holiday expenses. The initiative also included contributions from 20 home-based entrepreneurs, integrating small-scale Emirati businesses into the marketplace.

## Volunteer and Health Initiatives

A team of 1,320 volunteers, including university students and government staff, facilitated the event. Additionally, 227 free eye examinations were provided in partnership with Al Jaber Optical. The initiative aligns with Dubai's environmental goals by promoting responsible consumption and reducing waste.

## Part of a Broader Agenda

The 'Gift It Forward' initiative is part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to improve quality of life and social cohesion across the emirate.
