## Starmer's Gulf Tour

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of a Gulf tour aimed at supporting the recent ceasefire in the Middle East conflict involving Iran. This marks his first visit to the region since the conflict began in late February.

## Meeting with Saudi Leadership

Starmer is expected to meet with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. His visit comes amid reports from Saudi Arabia's defense ministry of intercepted drone attacks targeting the kingdom, despite the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran.

## Diplomatic Efforts

Starmer has expressed optimism about the ceasefire, emphasizing the need for international support to transform it into a lasting peace agreement. He also highlighted the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global trade.

## International Collaboration

The UK leader's visit follows a virtual meeting of military planners from over 30 countries, organized by Britain, to discuss securing the Strait of Hormuz post-ceasefire. Previously, a UK-led diplomatic meeting with around 40 countries addressed the closure of the strait, which has affected global oil and gas supplies.

## Military Involvement

UK forces have been active in the region, intercepting over 110 drone attacks and conducting extensive defensive operations. The UK continues to play a significant role in ensuring regional stability and security.
