## UAE Flag Raising Initiative
In a move to promote unity and pride, UAE residents are encouraged to display the national flag at homes and institutions. This initiative follows a call from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasizing the flag as a symbol of strength and national cohesion.
## Flag Etiquette and Legal Implications
Residents must adhere to official guidelines when raising the flag. Disrespecting the flag is a serious offense, with penalties including imprisonment and hefty fines. The UAE Ministry of Cabinet Affairs outlines specific protocols for flag handling.
## Historical Significance
The UAE flag, first raised in 1971, was designed by Abdullah Al Maeena. Its colors—red, green, white, and black—symbolize courage, prosperity, peace, and strength, respectively.
## Proper Flag Display
Flags should be clean, undamaged, and made from durable materials. They must be replaced if worn out. Specific dimensions and placement rules apply, such as positioning the flag on the left when displayed in even numbers.
## Prohibited Uses
The flag must not be altered for decorative purposes or used on disposable items. Any misuse is considered an act against national security, with severe legal consequences.
