## Commitment to Breastfeeding Support

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi has successfully renewed its Baby-Friendly Hospital accreditation. This recognition underscores the hospital's dedication to promoting breastfeeding and maternal care in line with the World Health Organization's guidelines.

## Enhanced Maternal and Child Care

The hospital has implemented comprehensive systems for monitoring and improving breastfeeding practices across its maternity and neonatal departments. Regular updates to policies ensure alignment with international standards, and staff receive continuous training to support breastfeeding effectively.

## Increased Patient Confidence

In 2025, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department saw approximately 22,001 outpatient visits, a significant increase from 15,854 in 2024. The Neonatal Department also experienced growth, with visits rising from 1,025 in 2024 to 1,302 in 2025. This growth reflects increased patient trust in the hospital's medical expertise and facilities.

## Benefits of Breastfeeding

The Baby-Friendly accreditation highlights the health benefits of breastfeeding, such as enhanced immunity for infants and reduced maternal health risks. It also fosters early mother-infant bonding, contributing to the psychological stability and overall health of newborns.
