Abu Dhabi sets strict rules for Ramadan tent permits

## Permit Process and Requirements

Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has introduced new guidelines for setting up Ramadan tents. Residents and companies can obtain permits through a straightforward process using the UAE Digital ID, with no additional documents or fees required. The permit allows for one tent per villa, which must be installed directly in front of the property.

## Specifications and Restrictions

The tents must not exceed 60 square meters in area or 4.5 meters in height. Approved materials include wool fabric and traditional tent materials. Tents should not obstruct traffic, pedestrian movement, or public services, and must avoid being placed over utilities.

## Liability and Prohibitions

Property owners are responsible for any damage caused by the tent installation or removal. Cooking equipment, charcoal, and commercial activities are strictly prohibited inside the tents. Violations of these conditions may lead to legal action and immediate removal of the tent.

## Emergency and Compliance Measures

The municipality reserves the right to demand the removal of tents in emergencies or if guidelines are breached. Owners must indemnify the municipality against any claims arising from the use of the permit. The digital permit is issued free of charge via the TAMM platform.
