How your old device can power a student’s education

## Initiative Overview

Dubai's "Donate Your Own Device 2.0" campaign has achieved 70% of its goal, collecting 70,000 electronic devices to support students in underserved communities worldwide. Launched in August 2025, the initiative aims to gather 100,000 devices and is a collaboration between the Digital School, Emirates Red Crescent, and over 140 organizations.

## Environmental and Educational Impact

The campaign not only provides digital education access but also promotes environmental sustainability. It has reduced CO₂ emissions by 320 tonnes, saved over 1.5 million kilowatts of energy, and cut fuel consumption by 460,000 litres. The initiative processes devices through secure data wiping, refurbishment, or safe recycling.

## Global Reach and Distribution

Devices have been distributed to countries such as Jordan, Mauritania, Lebanon, and Egypt, as well as within the UAE. In its latest phase, 1,050 computers were sent to Lesotho, Namibia, and Angola, helping establish 30 digital schools.

## How to Contribute

The Digital School encourages continued support through device donations or financial contributions. Donations can be made via their official website or through SMS, in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent.

## About The Digital School

Founded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in November 2020, The Digital School is the first accredited digital school of its kind, reaching over 850,000 beneficiaries in 40 countries. It offers programs in seven languages and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
