Dubai Municipality completes Phase 1 of project to develop sewerage, stormwater network in Al Quoz

## Infrastructure Upgrade in Al Quoz

Dubai Municipality has successfully finished the initial phase of a major infrastructure project in Al Quoz Creative Zone. This phase, costing Dh250 million, is part of a larger Dh500 million initiative to enhance the sewerage and stormwater systems in one of Dubai's key industrial areas.

## Project Details

The development covers Al Quoz Industrial Areas 1 to 4 and the region between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, spanning 1,600 hectares and over 1,507 plots. Phase 1 involved constructing sewerage and stormwater networks across 155 hectares, servicing 123 plots. The sewerage network extends 15 kilometers with pipes ranging from 160 mm to 1,600 mm in diameter. The stormwater drainage system stretches 14 kilometers, with pipes between 200 mm and 3,000 mm in diameter.

## Strategic Importance

This project is part of Dubai's broader Sewerage System Development Programme, aiming to create a sustainable and efficient infrastructure. It aligns with the Dh30 billion Tasreef programme, designed to significantly boost stormwater drainage capacity over the next century.

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the project's role in enhancing Dubai's infrastructure resilience and supporting urban growth.
