18th edition of the International Award for Arabic Children’s Literature launched in Italy

## Launch at Bologna Children's Book Fair

The 18th International Award for Arabic Children's Literature was inaugurated at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy. The event, which runs until April 16, was attended by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority.

## Award Categories and Submissions

The award is divided into five categories: Early Childhood, Picture Book, Chapter Book, Young Adult Book, and Non-Fiction Books. Publishers can submit up to five titles in the Early Childhood and Picture Book categories, while other categories have no submission limit. Entries must be original, published in Arabic within the last five years, and not previously awarded.

## Sponsorship and Support

Mohammed Al Amimi, Acting General Manager at e& UAE, highlighted the long-standing partnership with the UAE Board on Books for Young People, emphasizing the award's role in enhancing the Arabic children's book industry. Marwa Al Aqroubi, President of the UAE Board, noted the award's contribution to promoting Arabic creativity globally.

## Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open until August 31 and must comply with intellectual property rights. Educational and scientific books, series, e-books, and audiobooks are not eligible. Digital submissions are accepted through the award's official website.

## Prize and Recognition

The total prize pool is Dh1.2 million, distributed among authors, illustrators, and publishers. Winners will be announced at the Sharjah International Book Fair 2026.
