## Overview of Nafis Child Allowance
The Nafis programme in the UAE aims to enhance the competitiveness of Emirati talent by providing child allowance benefits to eligible Emirati women working in the private sector. Recent updates have introduced specific conditions for eligibility.
## Eligibility Requirements
Emirati women married to UAE nationals can qualify for the allowance if they meet certain criteria. These include situations where the husband is deceased or the woman is the primary financial provider for her children. Proof of financial responsibility must be provided through a court ruling, along with evidence of the husband's inability to work or unemployment.
Women married to non-UAE nationals are currently not eligible for the allowance under the Nafis programme.
## Allowance Details
The child allowance is set at Dh600 per child per month, with no limit on the number of children covered, provided the employee's salary does not exceed Dh50,000. Approximately 38,000 children are currently benefiting from this scheme.
## Broader Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, beneficiaries must work in the private, banking, financial, or insurance sectors, with salaries between Dh6,000 and Dh50,000, paid through the Wage Protection System or an approved alternative. The allowance is available for male children until adulthood or employment, and for female children until marriage or employment.
Applicants must not receive a salary or pension from federal or local entities, except in specific inheritance cases, and must not hold ownership stakes in their employer.
## Government Initiatives
This initiative aligns with the UAE's "Year of the Family 2026" and the national agenda for family growth by 2031, aiming to strengthen family stability and improve quality of life.
