## Contract Breach Leads to Ban
Sri Lankan cricketer Dasun Shanaka has been banned from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one year. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the decision after Shanaka withdrew from his contract with the Lahore Qalandars to join the Indian Premier League (IPL). Shanaka was initially signed by the Qalandars for $27,000 but later accepted a more lucrative offer of $214,000 from the Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for Sam Curran.
## PCB's Response
The PCB stated that Shanaka's withdrawal from the PSL constituted a breach of contract, violating both his registration terms and a tripartite agreement. The board emphasized that such actions undermine the integrity of the agreements between players and the league.
## Shanaka's Apology
In response to the ban, Shanaka issued an apology, expressing regret for his decision. He assured fans in Pakistan and PSL supporters that he had no intention of joining another tournament when he initially withdrew. Shanaka also expressed hope to return to the PSL in the future with a renewed commitment.
## Similar Incidents
Shanaka is not the first player to face such consequences. Recently, Zimbabwean bowler Blessing Muzarabani received a two-year ban from the PSL after opting to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, following his withdrawal from Islamabad United.
