EGA to acquire 80% of Italy’s Eco Green, expanding aluminium recycling footprint

## EGA's Strategic Acquisition

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is set to acquire an 80% stake in Italy's Eco Green, enhancing its aluminium recycling capabilities in Europe. This move is part of EGA's strategy to expand its global recycling network, complementing its primary aluminium production.

## Eco Green's Role

Eco Green, based in Italy, specializes in aluminium scrap collection and processing, handling over 70,000 tonnes of material annually. Its facilities in Villafranca di Verona and Nogara di Verona are key to its operations, with the latter undergoing expansion to increase recycled aluminium capacity by 15,000 tonnes annually by late 2026.

## EGA's Global Reach

With this acquisition, EGA aims to boost its recycling capacity to over 400,000 tonnes annually across the UAE, Europe, and the US. The company markets its recycled aluminium under the RevivAL brand and exports significant quantities of primary aluminium to Europe, serving industries like automotive and construction.

## European Market Dynamics

Europe ranks as the third-largest market for recycled aluminium, following the US and China. The region's demand for recycled aluminium is projected to grow significantly, driven by its lower energy requirements and reduced emissions compared to primary aluminium production.

## Leadership and Future Plans

Eco Green, founded by the Scappini family, will continue to operate under its current management. EGA's CEO, Abdulnasser bin Kalban, emphasized that the acquisition will enhance EGA's access to scrap and support its growth in Europe. Eco Green's CEO, Luca Scappini, noted that the deal will facilitate the company's expansion across Europe.
