## Likely Date for Eid Al Adha 2026
The Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub has projected that Eid Al Adha in 2026 will likely begin on Wednesday, May 27. This prediction is based on their calculations regarding the visibility of the crescent moon marking the start of Dhu al-Hijja, the Islamic month in which Eid Al Adha occurs.
## Day of Arafat and Moon Sighting
According to the center's report, the Day of Arafat, which is the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijja, is expected to fall on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The first day of Dhu al-Hijja is anticipated to be Monday, May 18, 2026. The lunar conjunction is predicted to occur at 12:17 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, with the crescent moon being visible for 57 minutes after sunset, which is considered sufficient for sighting.
## Submission to UAE Fatwa Council
The Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub has submitted its findings to the UAE Fatwa Council to aid in the official moon-sighting process. While the center provides scientific data, the final decision on the start of religious months and occasions rests with the country's official religious authorities.
