Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz under PCB investigation after positive drug test

## PCB Investigation

Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Nawaz is currently under investigation by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a positive test for recreational drug use. The test was conducted during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in India and Sri Lanka earlier this year. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has informed the PCB, which has initiated formal proceedings. A PCB spokesperson confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and results will be shared with the ICC upon completion.

## Impact on County Cricket

Nawaz's situation has affected his planned move to Surrey County Cricket Club for the T20 Blast. He was set to participate in the competition starting later this month, but the deal has now been canceled. Surrey has not yet commented on the matter. Nawaz had previously received a No-Objection Certificate from the PCB for this short-term move.

## Key Player for Pakistan

The 32-year-old all-rounder is a significant figure in Pakistan’s T20 cricket team. He has taken 101 wickets in 98 T20 internationals, making him one of the top wicket-takers for Pakistan in this format. Additionally, he has scored 911 runs and achieved two five-wicket hauls. During the recent T20 World Cup, Nawaz contributed to Pakistan reaching the Super Eight stage, securing seven wickets and scoring 15 runs.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Nawaz continues to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Multan Sultans, where he has taken six wickets in eight matches this season.
