## Comprehensive Leave Framework

The Abu Dhabi Government has unveiled a new framework granting government employees access to 15 different types of leave. This initiative, part of the executive regulations of Law No. (8) of 2025, aims to enhance employee well-being while maintaining organizational efficiency.

## Annual Leave Details

Annual leave is a significant component, with entitlements ranging from 22 to 30 working days based on employee grade. Higher grades receive more days, and leave approval must occur within seven working days of application. Employees can also request salary advances for leave periods of at least 15 days.

## Eligibility and Carry-Over

Eligibility for annual leave is subject to specific conditions, and unused leave can be carried over to the next year, up to half of the annual entitlement. Exceptions for carry-over beyond this limit require approval based on operational needs.

## Financial Compensation

Employees may receive cash compensation for unused leave, subject to budget availability and supervisor recommendation. Upon service termination, compensation is calculated based on daily salary rates.

## Other Leave Categories

The framework includes various leave types such as 12 days for work-related injuries, 10 days for marriage, three months for maternity and adoption, and six days for paternity leave. Bereavement, Hajj, and study leaves are also defined, with specific durations.

## Sick Leave Provisions

Sick leave is capped at 15 working days annually, with up to two days per instance allowed without a medical certificate. Longer absences require certification, and certain medical conditions may be exempt from the cap.

## Administrative Rules

Leave is calculated using the Gregorian calendar and includes public holidays. Employees must return to work immediately after leave, and failure to do so may lead to legal consequences.
