## Health Restrictions for Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has announced new health regulations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, focusing on safeguarding participants' well-being. Individuals with certain medical conditions may be ineligible for a Hajj permit. These conditions include advanced kidney failure requiring dialysis, severe heart failure, liver cirrhosis, serious mental illnesses, dementia, advanced age-related frailty, and pregnancy in the final trimester.

## Vaccination Requirements

The Ministry of Health mandates that all pilgrims receive a meningococcal meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before Hajj begins. Additional recommended vaccines include those for COVID-19 and seasonal influenza, especially for high-risk groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic conditions like heart, respiratory, and kidney diseases, as well as diabetes. Updated doses of COVID-19 and flu vaccines are advised if previous vaccinations were administered outside the recommended timeframe.

## Ensuring Safe Pilgrimage

These measures aim to ensure that pilgrims can perform the rituals safely and without health complications. The Saudi authorities emphasize the importance of meeting these health requirements to protect both individual and public health during the pilgrimage.
