Good news: Pakistan cuts passport delivery time

## Passport Delivery Time Reduced

Pakistan has announced a reduction in the delivery time for ordinary passports from 21 days to 14 days. This change is effective immediately and aims to improve efficiency in passport processing.

## Move to Cashless Payments

In a bid to enhance transparency and reduce reliance on middlemen, all passport offices in Pakistan will transition to a cashless payment system within 15 days. This initiative is expected to curb the influence of agents who charge extra fees for expedited services.

## Additional Reforms

The government is also planning to introduce a new "business passport" category and improve the home-delivery system for passports. A dedicated Passport Authority is proposed to further streamline operations and service delivery.

## Modernization Efforts

To address ongoing challenges such as long queues and delays, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is expanding digital services. These include real-time monitoring and automated printing technologies to reduce bottlenecks.

## Fast Track Services

A Fast Track Passport Service is available in several cities, offering urgent processing within two working days. An online portal also allows citizens, especially those overseas, to apply for renewals and pay fees digitally.
