## Light Vehicles Lead in Accidents
In 2025, the UAE recorded a total of 6,014 traffic accidents, with light vehicles being the most involved, accounting for 3,834 incidents. This category significantly surpassed others, highlighting a major area of concern for road safety.
## Motorcycles and Heavy Trucks
Motorcycles were the second most involved in accidents, with 1,224 incidents, while heavy trucks were linked to 325 accidents. These figures indicate the need for targeted safety measures for these vehicle types.
## Other Vehicle Involvements
Bicycles were involved in 158 accidents, and heavy buses in 131. Electric scooters accounted for 120 incidents, followed by light buses with 115, and e-bikes with 62. Vehicles of unknown type were linked to 31 accidents, and heavy and light mechanical equipment were involved in 13 and one incident respectively.
## Causes of Accidents
Sudden swerving was identified as the leading cause of accidents, responsible for 1,074 incidents. Driver distraction followed closely with 948 cases. Other significant causes included failing to maintain a safe distance, negligence, and lack of attention.
## Collision and Pedestrian Incidents
Out of the total accidents, 4,085 were vehicle collisions, 1,102 involved pedestrians, and 800 were vehicle rollovers. These statistics underscore the diverse nature of traffic incidents in the UAE.
## Comprehensive Safety Measures Needed
The Ministry of Interior has identified 160 factors contributing to road accidents, ranging from unsafe overtaking to running red lights and excessive speed. This highlights the complexity of traffic safety challenges and the need for comprehensive measures to address them.
