Dubai set to roll out 735 electric buses this year

## Largest Electric Bus Rollout in UAE

Dubai plans to introduce 735 electric buses in 2026, marking the largest zero-emission fleet expansion in the UAE. This initiative is part of Dubai's strategy to transition to a cleaner public transport system by mid-century.

## Charging Infrastructure Ready

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed charging infrastructure at five major depots, including Al Quoz and Jebel Ali. These sites are equipped with 32 high-capacity chargers to support the new fleet.

## Performance and Environmental Impact

The new buses, already operational on Route F13, can travel up to 370 kilometers on a single charge. Initial assessments show high efficiency and satisfaction levels, with a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. In 2025, emissions dropped by 12% compared to the previous year, and by 44% since 2022.

## Long-term Sustainability Goals

Marwan Al Zarooni, director of buses at the Public Transport Agency, emphasized the importance of sustainable transport solutions. The electric bus expansion aligns with Dubai's broader goal to cut emissions by 30% by 2030, supporting the UAE's climate neutrality targets.
