## Earthquake Details
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the central region of the Philippines on Monday. The tremor occurred at 2:09 pm local time near San Julian, a coastal town in Eastern Samar, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake originated at a depth of 10 kilometers.
## Impact and Reactions
Local authorities reported no immediate injuries, though the quake was described as strong and sudden. A police officer in the area noted structural damage at the police station and mentioned that officers were staying outside due to concerns about aftershocks.
## Affected Areas
The earthquake was felt across the Visayas region. Intensity V shaking was recorded in areas such as Can-Avid in Eastern Samar, Dulag and Alangalang in Leyte, and Gandara in Samar. Intensity IV was noted in Abuyog, Palo, and Carigara in Leyte. Moderate tremors reached parts of Biliran, Southern Leyte, and Sorsogon province in the Bicol region. Lighter tremors were experienced as far as Cebu, Masbate, Iloilo, and Davao Occidental, with intensity levels ranging from I to II.
