## Introduction of Passenger Services
Etihad Rail is set to launch its passenger services in a phased manner starting in 2026. The initial phase will connect major cities such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. This development aims to enhance connectivity and provide a reliable transportation option across the UAE.
## Freight Operations and Sustainability
Since February 2023, Etihad Rail has been successfully operating freight services, transporting significant volumes of goods. In 2026 alone, the company moved 1.8 million tonnes of sulphur and over 4 million tonnes of aggregates. These operations have significantly reduced road traffic and carbon emissions, aligning with sustainability goals.
## Strategic Connections
The freight network is strategically linked to key logistics hubs, including Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali Port, through 11 stations. This setup ensures efficient and uninterrupted cargo movement, supporting the UAE's industrial sector and trade flows.
## Commitment to Local Industry
Etihad Rail's participation in the "Make it in the Emirates" initiative highlights its commitment to supporting local industries. A significant portion of construction materials and suppliers are sourced locally, reflecting confidence in Emirati capabilities and contributing to economic growth.
