## UAE Under Attack
The United Arab Emirates faced its first attack from Iran since a ceasefire was declared in early April. On May 4, Iran launched a series of ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones, targeting the UAE. Fortunately, UAE air defenses successfully intercepted these threats, although a fire in Fujairah resulted in three injuries.
## Regional and Global Reactions
The attacks have drawn widespread condemnation. Bahrain expressed full solidarity with the UAE, while Ukraine and Finland also denounced the aggression, emphasizing the need for diplomacy. Egypt's President El-Sisi condemned the attacks in a call with the UAE President, highlighting the violation of international law.
## US-Iran Tensions
The situation in the Gulf is tense, with the US launching "Project Freedom" to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This initiative involves guiding commercial ships with military support. President Trump has warned Iran against targeting US ships, threatening severe retaliation.
## Economic Impact
In response to the conflict, India has approved a $27.3 billion credit guarantee scheme to support businesses affected by the Middle East tensions, particularly those facing cash flow issues due to rising fuel prices.
## Educational Adjustments
In light of the security threats, schools in Dubai and Sharjah have shifted to online learning to protect students and staff.
## Market Reactions
Oil prices initially surged due to the conflict but later retreated as a Maersk ship successfully navigated the Strait under US escort. This development provided some relief to global markets, with US stocks rebounding as a result.
