From Alleppey to the Met Gala: Kerala brand powers Met Gala 2026 carpet again

## Kerala Craftsmanship at the Met Gala

The Met Gala 2026, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, once again featured a carpet crafted by Neytt, a brand from Kerala, India. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Neytt has provided the carpet for this prestigious event.

## The Journey from Alleppey

Neytt, founded by Nimisha Srinivas and Sivan Santhosh, is known for its sustainable materials and local craftsmanship. The brand's journey to the Met Gala began in the backwaters of Alleppey, where artisans meticulously crafted the carpet. Initially, the team did not realize the significance of their project until it was approved for the Met Gala.

## Massive Undertaking

Creating the carpet was a monumental task, involving 400 to 500 artisans over nearly 90 days. The final product consisted of 57 large rolls, each measuring approximately 4 by 30 meters, covering a total area of about 6,840 square meters. Once completed, the carpet was shipped from Kerala to New York.

## Integral Part of the Event

While the Met Gala is known for its fashion spectacle, the carpet plays a crucial role as the foundation for every celebrity appearance. Neytt's contribution highlights the importance of craftsmanship and the global reach of local artisans.
