US military says over 70 ships blocked from entering or leaving Iranian ports

## US-Led Blockade on Iranian Oil Tankers

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced a significant maritime blockade, preventing over 70 ships from accessing Iranian ports. This operation is part of a broader effort to restrict the movement of Iranian oil, valued at more than $13 billion, amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region.

## Extensive Military Deployment

The blockade involves a substantial military presence, with more than 15,000 troops, over 200 aircraft, and more than 20 warships deployed. These assets include aircraft carriers, guided-missile destroyers, and surveillance aircraft, operating in strategic waters near Iran and neighboring countries like the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

## Impact on Oil Shipments

CENTCOM reports that 73 tankers are currently unable to transport Iranian oil due to the blockade. The operation aims to cut off oil revenues to Iran's leadership, reflecting heightened military activity and security measures around key shipping routes and energy infrastructure in the region.
