## Sharjah Police Reinforce Road Safety Measures
Sharjah Police have intensified their efforts to promote road safety, reminding the public of the Dh500 fine for traffic violations. This initiative is part of their ongoing campaign to enhance community awareness and responsibility on the roads.
## Focus on Preventable Violations
Traffic officials highlight that many serious accidents result from preventable violations rather than technical issues. Major Saud Al Shaiba from the Traffic Awareness Department stresses that even minor infractions can lead to severe accidents, urging constant vigilance and adherence to traffic laws.
## Importance of Individual Responsibility
Captain Humaid Al Hammadi, Director of the Traffic Awareness Branch, emphasizes that safety starts with individuals. He notes that respecting traffic laws is crucial for protecting lives and preventing tragedies.
## Helmet Use and Penalties
The campaign also targets common violations involving motorcycles and bicycles. Under Article 81 of the Federal Traffic Law, not wearing a safety helmet results in a Dh500 fine and four black points for both riders and passengers. Officials underscore that helmets significantly reduce the risk of head injuries and fatalities.
## Ongoing Awareness Campaigns
Sharjah Police are conducting field awareness programs and media outreach to foster a culture of traffic responsibility. During Ramadan, the campaign highlights the importance of attentive driving, warning that distractions can have devastating consequences.
