## Tragic Incident in Ras Al Khaimah
A 16-year-old Emirati boy tragically drowned in a dam located in the Wadi Al Aeem area of Ras Al Khaimah. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon after the boy, who was cycling with his cousin, slipped into the water while trying to wash mud off his feet.
## Father's Plea for Safety Measures
The boy's father, Jumaa Ali Al Mazrouai, expressed his grief and called for the installation of safety barriers around open water bodies to prevent such tragedies. He highlighted the absence of fencing around the dam, which was full of water at the time of the accident.
## Rescue Efforts and Aftermath
Despite desperate attempts by the cousin and later by family members to rescue the boy, he remained submerged for over an hour before divers retrieved his body. Emergency services declared him dead on the scene, and the case has been referred to forensic authorities.
## Community Calls for Action
The incident has intensified calls from residents for improved safety measures at natural sites, including warning signs, barriers, and surveillance. Community members stress the need for urgent action to prevent future incidents, especially in areas frequented by families and children.
