The ministers expressed concerns over the deteriorating situation in the Strait of Hormuz, where recent Iranian actions have disrupted key trade routes. In response, the EU plans to strengthen its naval operation, Aspides, to ensure freedom of navigation in the region.

## Gaza and Syria Developments

The EU also addressed the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the stalled negotiations between Israel and Hamas. The ministers adopted a sanctions list targeting extremist settlers and Hamas, aiming to curb violence and extremism.

In Syria, the EU agreed to reactivate the Cooperation Agreement with Damascus, signaling a potential resumption of dialogue. The EU remains committed to supporting Syria's transition and reconstruction, contingent on progress towards an inclusive political transition.
