## Improved Passport Ranking
The Philippine passport has seen a significant improvement in its global mobility ranking, moving from the 80th position in the early 2020s to between 61st and 73rd in 2026, depending on the index. This progress is attributed to new visa-free and visa-on-arrival agreements facilitated by the country's diplomatic efforts.
## Visa-Free Access Expansion
According to the Passport Index, the Philippine passport now offers access to 78 destinations, including 37 visa-free, 37 visa-on-arrival, and 4 electronic travel authorization options. The Henley Passport Index places the Philippines around 73rd, with access to 64-67 destinations, marking an improvement from previous years.
## Diplomatic and Economic Efforts
The enhanced passport power results from sustained diplomatic initiatives and economic partnerships, particularly with countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Recent agreements, such as the visa waiver with Paraguay, highlight the impact of strengthened foreign policy and economic cooperation.
## Ongoing Challenges and Goals
Despite these gains, the Philippine passport still lags behind some ASEAN neighbors, like Singapore, which ranks as the world's most powerful passport. Continued efforts in security, digital governance, and diplomatic outreach are necessary to further improve the passport's standing.
## Impact on Filipinos
With a population exceeding 116 million, the improved passport ranking benefits Overseas Filipino Workers and the tourism sector by reducing travel barriers. Officials are actively pursuing additional agreements to enhance the country's global mobility further.
