## Artistic Expression on Gaza's Shores

On the eve of Ramadan, Palestinian artist Yazeed Abu Jarad transformed the sands of Deir el-Balah in Gaza into a canvas for hope. He crafted the phrase "Welcome Ramadan" in Arabic calligraphy along the Mediterranean coast, capturing the attention of local children.

## A Community in Hardship

As the holy month approaches, many in Gaza face ongoing challenges. The region has been deeply affected by conflict, with nearly all of its 2.2 million residents displaced at least once due to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, which began after an attack by Hamas on October 7.

## Hope Amidst Displacement

Mohammed Al Madhoun, a 43-year-old resident living in a tent near Gaza City, expressed his hopes for a peaceful future. He dreams of a time when his children can enjoy Ramadan with traditional celebrations, including lanterns and festive meals, in a stable and peaceful environment.
