## Overview of the Initiative
The UAE's Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has introduced a Corporate Tax Late Registration Penalty Waiver, expected to benefit over 91,000 businesses. This initiative encourages unregistered businesses to complete their tax filings within the designated timeline.
## Eligibility and Conditions
Since its implementation in April 2025, the waiver applies to penalties incurred from late corporate tax registrations starting June 1, 2023. To qualify, businesses must submit their tax return or annual declaration within seven months from the end of their first tax period or financial year, a reduction from the usual nine-month period.
## Current Beneficiaries and Potential Applicants
As of now, more than 68,600 businesses have already benefited from the waiver. An additional 22,000 businesses are eligible, provided they meet the specified conditions outlined in the Cabinet decision.
## Automatic Waiver Process
Eligible businesses do not need to apply separately for the waiver. Once they submit the required tax documentation within the seven-month period, the penalty is automatically waived. If a penalty has already been paid, the amount will be credited to the taxpayer's EmaraTax account, which can be used for future tax liabilities or claimed as a refund.
## Encouragement for Compliance
The FTA is actively promoting this initiative to enhance voluntary compliance and maintain a flexible tax environment. Businesses are urged to check their eligibility and complete their registration through the EmaraTax platform to benefit from the waiver.
