Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently visited Jebel Ali Port to assess its operations and infrastructure enhancements. The port, managed by DP World, plays a crucial role in Dubai's trade network.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan praised the port's teams for their exceptional performance in maintaining operational excellence. He highlighted the port's significance in connecting regional and international supply chains, ensuring the seamless flow of commerce.
## Multimodal Logistics and Infrastructure
The Crown Prince was briefed on the port's logistics capabilities, noting that DP World handled nearly 200,000 TEUs through regional truck and rail corridors in the past two months. This reflects the port's resilience and its role in strengthening Dubai's trade infrastructure.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai's commitment to expanding multimodal connectivity and investing in infrastructure that enhances supply chain efficiency. Jebel Ali Port serves as a strategic hub for manufacturing, logistics, and distribution, supporting 12,000 companies globally.
## Key Facilities and Innovations
During the tour, Sheikh Hamdan visited several key facilities, including the Jebel Ali Rail Terminal, which connects the port to the UAE's national rail network. The terminal currently handles up to eight daily services and has plans to expand its capacity.
He also explored the BOXBAY high-bay storage system and Terminal 2's operations center. These innovations are part of DP World's ongoing investment in automation and connectivity, aimed at boosting the UAE's role in global trade.
## DP World's Global Impact
DP World operates across six continents, employing over 125,000 people and managing a maritime fleet of more than 500 vessels. Jebel Ali Port is the largest in the Middle East and anchors the region's extensive free zone, Jafza, which hosts companies across various sectors.
