UAE Food Bank launches Ramadan campaign to distribute 8 million meals

## UAE Food Bank's Ambitious Ramadan Initiative

The UAE Food Bank has launched a significant campaign to distribute eight million meals during Ramadan. This initiative, led by Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, is part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. It aims to provide meals from surplus food to those in need both within the UAE and internationally.

## Five Key Initiatives

The campaign features five main initiatives: Charity Fridge, My Home Without Waste, Meer Al Khair, Zabeel Iftar, and Recycle, Re-life. These programs focus on efficient and sustainable food management, encouraging community involvement and reducing waste.

### Charity Fridge

This program places refrigerators in neighborhoods, allowing individuals and organizations to donate leftover food, promoting community solidarity and reducing waste.

### My Home Without Waste

Aimed at households, this initiative offers tips on food storage and reuse, led by chefs to encourage sustainable practices.

### Meer Al Khair

This initiative provides food parcels to families in need, ensuring access to nutritious meals during Ramadan.

### Zabeel Iftar

A communal Iftar at Zabeel Park for workers, fostering community bonding during the Holy Month.

### Recycle, Re-life

In collaboration with the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative, this program collects surplus food from hotels, redistributing edible meals and converting non-edible food into compost.

## Broader Impact

The campaign aligns with the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051, promoting a circular economy and reducing carbon emissions. It also strengthens partnerships and raises awareness about food preservation, encouraging volunteerism and sustainable practices beyond Ramadan.
