## UAE's Healthcare Leadership
The United Arab Emirates is solidifying its status as a global leader in healthcare innovation by adopting cutting-edge treatments and medications. This year, the UAE has further established itself as a hub for medical advancements, reflecting its dedication to improving community health and expanding treatment options for complex diseases.
## New Drug Approvals
The Emirates Drug Establishment has approved "Baxfendy," a medication developed by AstraZeneca for hypertension, marking the UAE as the first country to authorize it. This treatment addresses the root causes of uncontrolled high blood pressure by inhibiting aldosterone production.
Additionally, the UAE has approved "EURneffy," the first needle-free epinephrine nasal spray for severe allergic reactions, making it the first in the region to offer this alternative to injectable adrenaline.
## Innovative Therapies
The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has introduced "Foundayo," a daily oral treatment for obesity, as part of a personalized weight management program. The UAE is the second country globally to approve this treatment, following the United States.
## Continued Advancements
In 2025, the UAE approved several pioneering therapies, including treatments for immune thrombocytopenia, multiple sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, and sickle cell disease. The country was also the first outside the US to offer "Tremfya" for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the UAE led in healthcare innovation by being the first to authorize emergency use of monoclonal antibody treatments and developing stem cell-based therapies. It was also the second globally to approve "Aduhelm" for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.
These efforts underscore the UAE's commitment to being a leading destination for advanced healthcare and medical innovation.
